FAQ
You’ve heard so much about yoga, you know it’s supposed to be great for you by making you fit, flexible, focused and stress free.
But, if you don’t know where to begin, if you are doing it right, or even know what yoga is, we’ll help guide you, step-by-step.
I’ve never done yoga before, where do I start?
Don’t worry, everyone has to start somewhere! We recommend trying our beginners’ classes. In these classes we breakdown the different postures and teach you what to expect when you attend a regular class.
What should I wear?
Come in something you can move in that’s comfortable and you don’t mind sweating in. We’ll be take you through the regular postures that you’ll experience in most yoga classes, which will sometimes have you with your hips in the air and your head towards the floor or vice versa. You’ll see many yogis wearing yoga pants, gym shorts and tank tops.
What should I bring?
Main thing is to bring yourself, an open mind and a sense of humor, but logistically there are some other items you might consider. A yoga mat, and if you like a small towel for sweat. If you don’t have these don’t worry, Naṭarāja Yoga Center has all these . Any other items needed for class like blocks, blankets, bolsters or straps are already at the center and ready for you to use.
Each person is unique, and yoga is about listening and becoming more sensitive and aware, so we recommend right from the beginning listening as much as possible to your body and brain and erring on the side of caution when you attempt new poses.
Congratulations on being interested in trying yoga! Please let us know if you have any further questions on how to get started.
